March 31, 2026

March came in like a lion, and seems to be going out like a lamb. Suits me just fine. I'm speaking at a birthday meeting tonight so that might be a good reason to wear a buttoned shirt.

Both my morning and my afternoon sessions canceled so that will give me more time to bake cookies.

March 30, 2026

Monday morning. Having a cup of coffee and listening to Benny Goodman, an album from 1937. I decided to play one album for each year from the last 100 years.

March 29, 2026

It's Sunday again. Not very much going on. Church in the morning which includes coffee hour after church. I made some cookies for that. No committee meetings or workshops in the afternoon, but I do have my usual sponsorship session early this evening and the Living Sober meeting at 8.

March 28, 2026

One of my sponcees is celebrating at the early risers meeting today. Another one is coming with me today to do some step work, I'm chairing an al-anon meeting on zoom this afternoon, planning a romantic dinner with my wife. Typical saturday here.

March 27, 2026

Pay day already. Took care of the monthly bills and while I was at it, I paid my registration for a service weekend I'm attending in Truro this May. Just having a coffee now so I don't have to beat up anyone who gets in my way in the grocery aisles today.

March 26, 2026

It was a month ago today that facebook accused me of violating their precious community standards. My immediate punishment, without trial I might add, was to suspend my account for three days and on top of that to put my profile at risk of deletion for thirty days. Apparently, at 230 or 300 pm they will turn the algorithm's gaze to someone else, hopefully to one of those prostitutes who call themselves content creators or maybe to the trump-bashers, who knows who they will put under the gun this time.

Looks like we're going to 2 meetings today. The noon meeting for starters and then to a birthday meeting at gaston. I might bring cookies to that one.

March 25, 2026

It's just another day here. I woke up at the usual time, did my readings and picked the word of the day. Shared it with all the people I share it with. It's wednesday so I uploaded  my podcast. Doesn't seem to be anything else to do today. Well, we will be attending a celebration of life this evening for the other Bernie from Hawaii, but that's not until 7 o'clock.

March 24, 2026

Yesterday was the anniversary of my first date with Nancy but today is actually the day I asked her to spend her life with me, 28 years ago. One day at a time we have been doing it.

I meet with two sponcees today and one of my sponcees who has been in treatment in Ontario comes home today so it will be good to see her.

Home group meets tonight. Birthday night is next Tuesday.

March 23, 2026

It was 28 years ago today that Nancy and I had our first date. It wasn't supposed to be a date but looking back at it, it definitely was a date. each year we try to relive it. We might have a problem this year because of the snowstorm, but there will be other anniversaries, God willing.

March 22, 2026

Sunday today. A fairly eventful day for me. We always go to church on Sunday morning, but today will have special significance because Nancy will be baptized and confirmed and I will be confirmed. I was baptized when I was 5 months old. If I had stayed in the church until I was 13, I would also have been confirmed. Alas, I left when I was 12, joined the local street gang and forsook all the teachings of the church. I only recently started going back to church so I am going to renew my faith and getting confirmed is part of it.

There is an AGM at the church after today's service so we plan to attend some of that. We won't be able to attend all of it because the wrap-up meeting for the midwinter roundup is also this afternoon at one and since I am the outgoing chair of that, my presence is needed.

Then, I have my usual sponsorship session at 7 and and online meeting at 8, so yes eventful sounds about right.

March 21, 2026

Saturday has arrived. It snowed last night but only a light dusting which ;ater turned to rain so that's a good thing. I don't have much to do today but tomorrow I have a lot to do abd I did not want the weather to hamper any of it.

We go to church as usual and during the service Nancy will be baptized and we both will be confirmed. I was already baptized but I left the church when I was 12 so I missed being confirmed. Going to take care of that tomorrow.

Then, the church as its annual general meeting and I'll try to take in a bit of that but I will have to leave before its over because the final committee meeting for the midwinter roundup is also tomorrow at one and since I'm chair of that committee, well I kinda have to be there.

But that's all tomorrow.

March 20, 2026

They tell me it's Friday. When you're retired all days are like the weekend. I usually meet up with a fellow for a book study but he is  visiting his mother this weekend and asked if we could skip today.  I think family visits are good and the book will still be there next weekend.

Our other big book meeting - Serenity Corner - is tonight. I always look forward to that.

Rest of the day looks like video games.

Thursday, March 19, 2026

March 19, 2026

It's Thursday. Couple things going on today. The men's lunch is today, at my church. There is an archivist committee meeting and there's a meeting at St. Luke's that I'll probably go to. That's the plan anyway. I can make a plan; I just can't plan the outcome of said plan.

March 18, 2926

Wednesday. Hump day as they say, because its the middle of the week when you can almost see the weekend humming in the distance. Weather doesnt look too bad. and I don't have much of anything on the horizon.

March 17, 2026

It is St. Patrick's day. It is the celebration of the life of Saint Patrick and a celebration of the spread of christianity in Ireland. Some say it is a reminder of God's grace working through unlikely people. Ironic that the word I pulled from my god box this morning was but for the grace of God.

Bit of a storm out there today. Rain and wind. I have things to do but they are all indoor things. Until this evening, of course, and hopefully by this evening all of that will have eased up.

Monday, March 16, 2026

March 16, 2026

Supposed to be another storm this evening, except it will be heavy rain and not heavy snow. No shovelling involved which is good. I think way too much driveway gravel is on the lawn already. One thing about the weather in Nova Scotia. If you don't like it, wait a few minutes. It always changes.

Sunday, March 15, 2026

March 15, 2026

My word from the god box today was actually a slogan. How important is it. When I started making today's entry, I noticed I haven't updated this blog for a couple of days. And as I mentioned at the god box blog, is this something that will be important next week, next month, or next year. Probably not. So how important is it today, really? I remember being a bit rushed yesterday and that's why I missed the update yesterday. I don't know what the reason was on Friday. Main thing is I'm updating it today.

It's Sunday today so we'll start our day with church. After the service will be coffee hour. This afternoon I have the monthly district meeting for the GSRs (General Service Representatives) and since I'm the so-called leader of the district committee, it's my responsibility to chair that meeting.

This evening I host the Living Sober Group on zoom. It's a book study and the section we're doing tonight is on changing old routines, a common practice when attempting to stop a bad behaviour, like an addiction to drinking or smoking.

Friday, March 13, 2026

March 13, 2026

It's Friday the thirteenth. Snowed last night. Not much but enough that I had to shovel this morning. Luckily, it was light snow so it was mostly just pushing it off to the side. Supposed to meet with a friend to read a chapter in the book; hope the weather does not deter him. Time will tell.

The meeting we go to this evening is on zoom so at least we won't have to frig around with buses or walking.

Thursday, March 12, 2026

March 12, 2026

Another day of light rain and mild temperature, helps to get rid of february's snow. I don't have much on the go today, might be meeting with someone this morning in person or this afternoon on zoom. That will be up to them.

Another simple supper would be great. Cheeseburgers maybe.

Wednesday, March 11, 2026

March 11, 2026

Looks like I missed a day updating my blogs. Strange though because I wasn't overly busy yesterday. I know I updated a blog that I don't usually do, maybe that sidetracked me from the daily norm.

Today was podcast day so I got that uploaded.

Ordinarily, we would go to Tallahassee on a wednesday night but today we might skip that meeting.

Monday, March 9, 2026

March 9, 2026

Looks like we might be getting through winter. It's going to be double digit weather today, not nice enough to break out the barbecue, but it might be warm enough to melt snow.

I'll probably record this week's podcast today.

I might be meeting up with a new sponcee. I've known her for a while. We'll see how it goes.

Sunday, March 8, 2026

March 8, 2026

Time change was last night so the clocks sprung ahead one hour. I didn't know that until Nancy woke me up at what I thought was seven am but it turned out to be 8 am. Oh well. I'm awake on time and that's the main thing. Church is at ten. I wonder how many people will miss it this morning.

Saturday, March 7, 2026

March 7, 2026

It's Saturday. I thought I had something going on but that's actually next Saturday, so today will be a laid back kind of do nothing day.

Friday, March 6, 2026

March 6, 2026

It's cold out today but it's not snowing. And it's not raining. The wind is not blowing and the sun is not shining. So, it's a not day.

Thursday, March 5, 2026

March 5, 2026

It's a Thursday. Weather seems a bit more like spring. It's still cold but not bitter cold. Lot of rain in the forecast as opposed to heavy snow. Maybe, I'll have a barbecue soon.

Wednesday, March 4, 2026

March 4, 2026

It snowed again last night but since it was mixed with rain, it didn't amount to much. I'll wait until the rain stops and if there's anything left to shovel, then I will.

Today was podcast day, so I uploaded that.

I have an appointment on zoom at 11, a re-schedule from yesterday.

Wednesday I usually go to a meeting in eastern passage but lately we've grown disenchanted with that meeting so I might got to another meeting tonight. There's an al-anon meeting I like that meets tonight so we'll see how that goes.

Tuesday, March 3, 2026

March 3, 2026

Pretty cold outside the last few days. But, it's not snowing and it's not raining, and the wind isn't blowing. So I try to focus on the positive instead of the negative. I have the morning to myself, not sure about the afternoon yet. Tonight is home group night. Beyond all that, we'll see how the day goes.
